13th May 2006 - Dave and I enter into a Civil Partnership in London, granting us the same rights as a married couple in the UK. I'd hate that to be taken away.

I was planning to wrap up the year with a column recapping on some of the successes our community has achieved in 2008. However, when Proposition 8 was passed removing the rights of same-sex couples to marry in California I couldn't shake the feeling that we were losing more battles than we have gained.
In the UK, not only have we failed to overturn the Spanner ruling, (which made any activities illegal if they were done for sexual pleasure and result in an injury more than "transient or trifling"), but this year our government brought in a new law banning possession of images which depict some of those activities as well.
We have also suffered a horrendous financial situation in the last few months which has put many of our community events and businesses in jeopardy.
I've been struggling for the right words to say. Tonight I read an entry in dogpoet's blog and he said it for me.
If you have a few minutes spare, please read his November 17th essay. It's worth it.
I hope you all have a happy and healthy holiday and a peaceful New Year.
Have fun, look after yourselves and the people you play with.
Best wishes,
